Colour Psychology - how to show emotions in art

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค๐ŸคŽ

Hello!

Today, doing some research on colors and their impact on emotions and feelings. I found a lot of interesting information that I will share with you in this post.

Emotions accompany each of us every day. They serve us to make various decisions under their influence as well as to experience life, to feel in a certain way. Every day is a kaleidoscope of various emotions that we sometimes don't even realize. Colorful emotions are also an inspiration and an element of creating the art of every artist, but also the emotions they evoke in the recipient through their works.

Emotions can be expressed through various techniques in art. However, I would like to focus on painting.

Very often, when we watch a work of art, we are able to notice a change in our mood. We can feel joy and euphoria. Sometimes sadness, nostalgia and longing, and even anxiety and fear. All this is the result of the appropriate selection of colors and techniques used by the artist. Knowing these techniques and knowing what colors affect the mood of a person, I can perfectly convey my own emotions and feelings to the recipient.

Experienced artists attach great importance to the selection of colors, but also shapes, lines and shadows to properly present their vision.

๐ŸŒˆShowing joy, happiness and contentment

Vivid, colorful even "candy" colors, in various shades of warm and cold, more proportional shapes,

๐ŸŒˆTo show and arouse sadness, nostalgia, fear and anxiety

Dark, gloomy, dull and cold colors - black, grey, sometimes white. Distorted figures, strange shapes, distorted proportions

๐ŸŒˆShowing love, affection

Reds, pinks, purples in mild pastel tones, sometimes combined with black, showing the beauty of the figure, proportional

My summary:

Thanks to the psychology of color as an artist, I can learn how to show my emotions by using the right colors in my art and work, but also how to specifically affect the feelings and emotions of the recipient of my art. My major project will be based on the creation of works based on my own emotions and experiences, therefore thanks to my understanding of the psychology of color I will know how to get the right effect and I hope to influence the recipients and their emotions in the right way.

  1. I don't get much sense of how you are going to be using this research in your project, I don't think you have made that clear enough. Also, cutting and pasting from your sources without showing these parts of text as quotations is problematic and could be bad academic practise.
