Last week I have been visited art gallery about my major project theme witch is Expressionism. I found many great artists and their paintings, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl, Max Pechstein, Otto Mueller and Emil Nolde. They shared a studio, painted and took holidays together.
artists like Otto Dix and George Grosz satirised the vices of modern society. Others like Ludwig Meidner, Pechstein and Felixmüller joined short-lived political artists' groups like the Novembergruppe or the Arbeitsrat für Kunst (Workers' Council for Art), which sought to join artists with workers' solidarity movements
Käthe Kollwitz produced work which protested against injustice for the oppressed and Ernst Neuschul gave ordinary lives a new visibility and spirit.
I chose a few paintings that I liked the most with a slightly abstract note and showing the feelings and emotions flowing from the image.
The first work is the painting Messiah by Ernst Neuschul. I really like the composition of the picture. The abstract background contrasts very interestingly with the figure in the foreground. In my opinion, he also amazingly reflected and immortalized the facial expression of the character, his emotions and body position. A very expressive and interesting work.
I chose next one painting Breakdown by Ludwig von Hofmann because it is also full of feeling and expression. Unfortunately, I feel sad when I look at it, but thanks to this, I know that the artist perfectly visualized emotions using colors, compositions of human bodies and a very turbulent background.
Another Apocalyptic Vision by Ludwig Meidner makes me anxious and anxious. Very dark colors and a strange irregular line show an interesting apocalyptic picture. Both the work and its title perfectly harmonize with each other and affect the viewer.
The last one is Red Woman by Franz Marc showing an abstraction of a naked woman between some plants and shapes. She reminds me of some Indian or tribe woman because she has a tattoo on her shoulder blade and hip. The image evokes very nice feelings in me and the composition, despite the predominance of red, makes me happy, perhaps because of the contrast with the green. A very interesting abstraction that can lead me a bit to the idea for my main project.
