Different materials colour experimentation- Marbling Ink

Hello!🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌

Today I will show you some of my experiments with marbling ink. This exercise is very interesting from an abstract point of view. It will be very useful for me to use this experience in my project. To be honest, I did it myself for the first time in my life and the wonders that can be created amazed me. In general, the whole procedure is simple, but you need to properly prepare the workplace because you can splash around pretty well. The most important thing is to find a suitable place to dry our wet colorful masterpieces.

Preparation and fun are very simple - pour some water into a rectangular bowl, add the white powder from the package and wait for several minutes. After this time, we take the paints and shake them very well.

We choose the colors we want and drop droplets from 15 cm onto the surface of the water. We can use different stirrers in the set and apply the paints as we want.

At the end, when the pattern on the water is satisfactory, we take the paper and put it on the colored surface of the water. Now we can admire what we came up with and continue experimenting with other patterns.

Below you can see pictures from the process and final outcomes of my work.
I really love this one. Beautiful patterns and twisted center remind me of a flower and the color red, of course, love and passion. I did not expect such an effect.

  1. These came out well, nice use of colour and texture starting to appear in the work for this project, well done. Think about where you might take these next. For example you could look at some of the circular shapes that you created and consider how you might use that as the basis or the 'ground' of one of your works.

Have a look at the work of Helen Frankenthaler, I think it is someone you might be interested in: https://www.frankenthalerfoundation.org/artworks/paintings

The ones most relevant to you are from about 1961 onwards.
